After the successful release of Netflix’s original movie Bird Box, Veteran American actress Sandra Bullock announced that she will be ending her Hollywood residency to give way to the development of her own online-based movie productions company. According to Sandra, in this day and age, millennials are more accustomed to watching movies from the internet rather that watching it on the big screens. She also said that traditional movie screenings are gradually losing grip to millennials therefore, she has to reinvent the way movies are made (and showed) to capture the millennial market. In partnership with fellow actors and actresses, Bullock will introduce her very own streaming service productions company by the end of 2019. For the upcoming 2020, we can see more of Sandra Bullock but this time, we can just watch her new films in our handheld devices at the comfort of our homes.
Sandra entered show business at the age of 23 when she first appeared in J. Christian Ingvordsen’s thriller film The Hangmen in 1987. His biggest career breakthrough was in 1994 when she was casted in the Movie Speed alongside Keanu Reeves who, at that time, was also emerging from the field of showbiz. Sandra and Keanu’s on-screen chemistry became a huge hit thus, the movie became a blockbuster hit and was able to generate $350 million in revenues from its worldwide screening. From action, Bullock transitioned to comedy as she starred in the romantic-comedy film While You Were Sleeping in 1995. Her quirky but serious persona in Comedy landed roles in Two If by Sea, Practical Magic, Forces of Nature, 28 Days, Miss Congeniality 1 & 2, The Proposal, and a lot more. Comedy aside, Sandra is also a pretty good dramatic actress, making a lot of her audiences teary-eyed in her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in the movie The Blind Side which she co-starred with Quinton Aaron, Tim McGraw, Lily Collins, Ray Mc Kinnon among others.
For being such a versatile actress, Sandra was able to get various nominations and awards from different award giving bodies. The greatest award she received so far was the Academy Award for Best Actress in the movie The Blind Side. Though the movie didn’t win the Academy’s, it was still nominated for Best Picture in 2010.
In her latest post-apocalyptic thriller movie Bird Box, Sandra plays a mom who is trying to save her children from mysterious forces that roam the earth which caused people to commit suicide. In order to survive, she taught her children to strictly follow her rules every time they went out of their safehouse (with their eyes covered). In the movie, every time people see these entities, they hallucinate and began to see their greatest fear, anger or remorse which causes them to get crazy and, eventually, kill themselves. The movie became very controversial because the entities are ethereal in nature and does not have any physical form. There were even arguments circulating around social media that the entities were either alien lifeforms or demonic creatures. This just proves that the script was well written and Sandra once again made a very good portrayal of her role.
